Discos

The PTFA discos will take place on the 19th October 2017. Key Stage I children party from 17.30 to 18.30 and Key Stage II children from 18.45 to 20.00.

Parents are more than welcome to stay for the event. Please drop off and pick up from the main school entrance. Snacks, drinks and glow sticks amongst others will be on sale.

Harvest

We are asking for donations of non-perishable food items (ie tins and packets) to be sent to school on Thursday 19th October for us to give to Homelink.

On that day we shall have a regular assembly led by Mr Wilken but with the theme of giving thanks for our food. Should any parent wish to attend to also give thanks our doors will be open but please be aware that, in trying to balance the needs of the curriculum in one of the busiest terms of the year, the children are not putting on a performance.

Pound Coins

As of end of business today we shall no longer be able to accept the old pound coins.

Looking Back

Farm to Fork

Year 1 had a brilliant morning learning all about the production chain and about how our food gets to our plates. Such a lot of great questions and learning and a particularly big thanks to all of those at Tesco who organised the teaching and for showing us around.

Harry Potter

Our Year 4 pupils appeared to have had a simply magical time at Hogwarts this week. I’m looking forward to seeing how this stimulates their work

Year 1 Learn About the Food We Eat

5th October 2017

Year One made their way over to Tesco today to learn all about the food they eat. The saw how it was made, where it came from and how it changed from Farm to Fork.

A very big thank you to all the staff at Tesco for a brilliant day’s learning.

I would like to welcome Mrs Fox to the team. She comes to the school to work in Year 3. We are very pleased to have you on board.

PTFA

PTFA have moved their AGM to Monday 9th October @ 18:30 in school.

Sickness

Sickness spreads rapidly in schools. So this is just a gentle reminder to all parents that we ask children to stay off for 48 hours from the last bout of sickness or Diarrhoea so that we can limit any cross infection as much as possible.

Reminder – Richard Greenwood Photographers –  PARENTS WELCOME

On Saturday 7th October (09.30-12.30) Richard Greenwood will be at The William Amory Nursery for any families who wish to have portraits done in time for Christmas. Saturdays have proved popular as whole families and extended families can come. There are many packages to choose from at very reasonable prices. Please speak to Tracey or Shirley (01782 394900 – Nursery) if you wish to book an appointment time.

Looking Back

Macmillan Coffee Morning for school and nursery families

Thank you to all parents who came to support this charity or gave cakes or money for this worthy cause.

Nutrition workshops

Reception to Year 4 had a great time learning about nutrition with Grace Scott from Compass Group.

Football

Well done to both our teams for reaching the semi-finals of the BBSSA football tournament this week. And some cracking scores from the CADSSA A team who played at home this week, 1-0 and 7-0. Great scores. Great skills. Let’s keep this up.

Richard Greenwood Photography

On Saturday 7th October, photographer Richard Greenwood will be at The William Amory Nursery from 09.30 until 12.00.

This is an opportunity to come and have portraits that will be back in good time for Christmas! We book a Saturday as in the past this has proved popular with families to come and have whole family or even extended family portraits.

There are many packages that you can choose at very reasonable prices and pictures can be either colour or black and white.

Please speak to Tracey or Shirley (0182 394900 – nursery) if you wish to book an appointment time.

Open Day for School

The William Amory are very proud to welcome all parents with a child due to start school within the next year to come to our Open Day on the 11th October 2017.

We have two opportunities to visit – in the morning (tour starts around 09:15) and in the evening (tour starts around 18:30).

Please call us on 01782 394900 (office) to book a place. If you prefer to turn up at those times you will be made most welcome.

Should you be unable to make those times, please call us to book an appointment. The same applies if you wish to look at our nursery which takes children from three years of age.

We hope that the information we will give you during the tour will go some way to making the choices open to you clearer.
We aim to give you a taste of:

  • How Reception is organised in schools and this school;
  • The value of working together to raise your child;
  • Our school, nursery and after school club– our ambitions and aim, our ethos;

Please feel free to ask any question that you wish during the tour. Staff and I will be available for this.

We look forward to seeing you.

Mr B Wilken

Looking Forward

 Mrs Deakin

It is with sadness that I announce that next week will be Mrs Deakin’s last week in school. During her tenure here there has not been an area of school where she has not worked, including the Nursery. I know she has touched the lives of a lot of children and thank her for that on the school’s behalf as well as the children’s past and present.

We very much wish Mrs Deakin a very fond farewell and wish her every success in her future endeavours.

Macmillan Coffee Morning for school and nursery families

On the 29th our doors will be open from 09.00 for parents, family members and friends to join us in raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

So please come and support our part in the cause. In the past we have had tremendous support in making the cakes as well. Remember, the more cakes we have, the more money we raise.

Please help us raise money by coming or by making some cakes for us to sell on the day.

PTFA

The PTFA do a fantastic job raising money to assist the school in so many ways. Much of the equipment we have in school is a result of their efforts and we value every penny they raise.

The PTFA have their AGM on the 4th October at 18:30. Please feel free to attend. Our group is so friendly and welcoming. It’s a good way to meet people, either at the meetings or in the events that they organise.

So whilst the AGM is a bit “formal” please do come along if you are interested in helping out, even just a little.

Nursery and After School Club

Thank you all for your custom, it is wonderful to see all the happy children in there when I visit. Thanks also to parents who have already filled in the details on ParentAdmin. We have moved over to quite a few new electronic systems in the last few years and I know that sometimes there are glitches and problems. But I also know that when they are up and running they are fantastic.

So please, if you have not entered your information yet, please could you do so as soon as possible.

If you have an issue or if you have not received an email, please could you let us know.

Richard Greenwood Photographers –  PARENTS WELCOME

On Saturday 7th October (09.30-12.30) Richard Greenwood will be at The William Amory Nursery for any families who wish to have portraits done in time for Christmas. Nutrition Assembly – PARENTS WELCOME

Parents are invited to attend our assembly (27th September 2017) at 09.10 when we have Grace Scott from Compass talking to the children about nutrition and keeping healthy.

Some classes will have lessons afterwards but, upon speaking to Ms Scott, I was told that it could be of interest to parents as well.

So please come along if you want.

Looking Back

Sgt Egerton

A fantastic well done to the Blythe Bridge community for commemorating 100 years since Sgt Egerton received his VC. It was a wonderful experience for our head boy and girl to meet the family.

Football

Well done to our B team for their stirling efforts this week. We’re currently top of the league so let’s hope we can stay there for the remainder of the season!
