Soundwaves Hit Birmingham

16th January 2014..Soundwaves at the LG Arena

t-soundwaves10-0114As part of the 6500 strong choir of Young Voices 2014, Soundwaves travelled down yesterday afternoon in anticipation of a fabulous day. Preparations began many months ago with Mrs Wilkins and the choir rehearsing after hours and performing the songs to a variety of audiences, including the Christmas fayre, a retirement home and the whole school, with visiting teachers from other schools watching too.

t-soundwaves07-0114Led by X Factor starlet Stacey Solomon, pupils from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, Sandwell and Staffordshire performed as part of the one of the largest children’s choirs in the world.  Songs included a pop medley featuring hits from bands such as One Direction, as well as more classical pieces such as Hallelujah and The Lord’s Prayer.

Mrs Wilkins commented “It’s a fantastic event. The atmosphere has been incredible, the children are all so excited to perform.  We’ve been rehearsing every Thursday for the last six months for today and we have been really looking forward to it.”

Last night’s show, which was held in front of friends and family of the pupils, was the first of a 14-night tour of the UK which will see a total of 2,500 schools take part and more than 110,000 children perform in the Young Voices choir.t-soundwaves04-0114

The atmosphere was terrific with many thousands of parents getting up to dance and singing every bit as loud as their children.

Well done to everyone who took part and to the teachers who worked so hard to organise this fantastic trip.
